Happy 2023!

Welcome back!

Math: In math class, we are finishing up our fourth module! Students are learning about area and how some shapes that look different can have the same area. Students are discovering about the differences between square centimeters and inches.

Writing: Students are working on hard on their nonfiction animal books! We are working on finishing up on drafting and starting to publish our nonfiction animal books!

Reading: We have been exploring some humorous stories and working on identifying story plot elements. Our next text set will be on realistic fiction books.

STEM: Students used an app, Tynker, on their Chromebooks to code a drone in order to check on Farmer Grady's crops. Students had to code their drone to circulate the classroom in a square and stop at each "field" to check on their "crops." Students were very successful at this!

We will be moving onto our social studies unit on Native Americans. Students will learn about the 5 regions of Native Americans: the Arctic/ Far North, Northwest Coast, Southwest, Plains, and Eastern Woodlands. Students will be learning about their way of life, ways of transportation, customs/traditions, materials they used to make their homes and clothes, and much more!

Students will be taking Reading & Math MAP tests this week to monitor their progress!
