March update

Math: Students are still learning about fractions and locating fractions on number lines and comparing fractions with like and unlike denominators using number lines! Students will also realize that equivalent fractions are at the same point on the number line, and will also be expressing whole numbers as fractions!

Reading: We are wrapping up our text set involving stories on facing challenges. Students have worked on discussing character traits and identifying challenges characters went through. We will be starting to work on reading longer passages and answering multiple choice questions and working on extended responses.

Language Arts: Students have been learning about biographies and listening to the accomplishments and struggles of certain individuals. Eventually students will be writing an opinion piece on a person that students want to learn more about.

Social Studies: Finally, we have begun our Native Americans unit. Students will learn about the 5 regions of Native Americans: the Artic/Far North, Northwest Coast, Southwest, Plains, and Eastern Woodlands. Students will be reading about their way of life, types of homes they made and lived in, what they eat, and how they got food!

  • March Book Reports are due: Tuesday, April 2nd.
  • There is NO SCHOOL Monday, March 25- Friday, March 29. Happy Spring Break!
