Happy November!

Math: Students are finishing up Module 3 this week on Multiplication and Division facts. Next week, we will be starting to explore Module 2 which involves time and measurement. Please remind students to continue practicing their multiplication and division facts at home!

Reading: We are moving onto our expository nonfiction text set. All of the texts will be nonfiction and the goal is for students to recognize that the authors of these texts give facts about a topic, to notice the different ways the author organizes information, and to notice some of the text features that authors use to enhance their books!

A friendly reminder that the November Book Report will be due on Friday, December 2nd.

Language/Writing: Students have been working hard on their personal narratives. They have spent time editing and revising their narratives by including powerful hooks, strong endings, sentences that show-don't-tell and many details and dialogue.

Science/STEM: The big question students will be exploring is "How can we use technology to help protect plants from severe weather?" Students have learned about clouds and we will be exploring on how we can predict when it will storm! Afterwards, students will discuss the differences between climate and weather, how we measure weather, and learn about the different climates in various places in the world. Students will also learn about severe weather, and will research a specific type of severe weather in groups. The project that goes along with this will likely be in December!
