Happy January!

Math:

We have begun our fourth module. Students will learn that area is the number of square units it takes to cover a shape. 

Writing:

Students have been working hard on researching facts about their animal. We will organize their notes in preparation for our nonfiction books. That will lead to drafting and publishing our nonfiction picture books!

Reading:

Students have been learning about identifying story plot elements. Then, we will start a genre study on realistic fiction books.

Science/STEM:

Students are still exploring the concept of balanced forces!

  • It is almost winter benchmarking time! Students will taking Reading and Math MAP tests as well as Fastbridge testing to monitor progress in the next couple of weeks! 
  • There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 15th. Happy MLK Day!
  • There is a half-day for students on Thursday, January 18th. (Hynes students are dismissed at noon)
  • January book reports are due February 2nd.
