Math:
We will be finishing our area module and diving into our fractions module. Students will be partitioning wholes into equal parts, identifying unit fractions, representing parts of a whole as a fractions using number bonds, comparing fractions, and more!
Reading:
Students are wrapping up on our genre study on Realistic Fiction books. Our next text set will be about honoring traditions. Students will be focusing on summarizing.
- February Book Reports will be due March 4th!
Writing:
We are finishing our final drafts of our nonfiction picture books! Students have mastered how to identify when a text is nonfiction and nonfiction text features! We will be moving into our next writing unit which is biography and opinion writing.
Science:
Students are super close to answering the question: Why does the train change from floating to falling?
- There is a half-day on Thursday, February 8th. Hynes students are dismissed at noon.
- There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, February 16th or Monday, February 19th.
